Training
We are currently accepting horses and ponies for training as well as sales. We are happy to work with your horse whether your end goal is to be competitive on the A circuit, fox hunting, or simply to enjoy trail and pleasure riding. Whether the horse simply needs a 30-day refresher course or you wish to board full time, we can accommodate you.
Training packages are full service and horse is maintained in show/sale condition.
We are able to incorporate the use of a round pen, free jumping arena, main ring and large open fields.
We feel it is important, especially for a young horse, to get time outside of the ring in order to help keep them interested and happy. We also feel it is important to include the owner/rider in the process and welcome them to come for training sessions.
Oakleigh is now accepting students from beginner to advanced, but our main focus is on students who wish to continually improve and eventually compete. We will be happy to talk to anyone to see if they will fit into our program. All lessons are private or semi-private.
We feel that both are important, semi-private so students can learn from watching others practice as well as doing it themselves (and we feel it's a little more fun), and private because everyone is different and this enables us to customize the teaching that much more.
We stress horsemanship and holding ourselves to the highest standards. Our main instructor's background is primarily the national hunter jumper circuit. While we want all students to have fun, we will also hold them to the standards of horse care and showmanship experienced at this level. We know everyone's goal may not be to compete at this level, but feel it is important to understand and aspire to these standards
